Boat Building Lumber And Started Boat For Sale

Backbone assembly for 34 foot double ended round-bilged live aboard wooden motorsailer, bilge keels, junk rig, designed for the Georgia Straight. Naturally curved fir stempost, fir keel, sternpost and timbers. 800 lb lead keel and gumshoe attached, floor timbers started. Straight and true, built strong for repeated grounding ability, (no wharfage required!) Bronze fastened. Non-poisonous borax-type wood preservative. Very moveable right now. Send email address for descriptive article and lines, published in THE BOATMAN, Feb. 1995.

Probably 6000 board feet of clear, edgegrain, old growth, air dried, well stickered, red and yellow cedar, mostly from beachcombing which gives it that extra edge. Cut in cants to the scantlings for the above boat, some red cedar still in larger cants. Lengths up to 22 ft. Large collection of natural crooks and knees.

$5 a bd ft on Lasqueti, $7 off Lasqueti. I would prefer to sell it as a kit, and would include the backbone assembly, the knees and some nice goodies, including a bolt of sailcloth, internal lead ballast ingots, a curved bronze stem iron salvaged off an Aleutian Island beach and carried around the south seas for some years, and so on. Depending on how the lumber pile measures up, I’d guess the kit price would be in the neighbourhood of $30 to$35 g (Canadian)

The thing to do would be to buy the whole shebang, cream the pile for this boat, and then sell the rest to get your cruising stash. The wood is like gold these days, only probably more rare. Or you could build another boat, or many kayaks.
